PETIC project comes to its’ ending

The PETIC project aimed to equip physical education teachers of primary and secondary education with appropriate knowledge and skills for raising their own and pupils’ intercultural competence, approaches to its’ closure. The program started in September 2022 and is about to close in February 2025. During these years a nice collaboration was in progress among Greece, Luxembourg and Slovakia partners’ (University of Thessaloniki, University of Luxembourg, University of Trnava, the Educational Organization Horizontes, the Institution of Educational Policy in Greece and the European Physical Education Association – EUPEA). Moreover, some fruitful results were produced.

  • An intercultural Physical Education e-guide including both theoretical part and practical examples is now available for PE teachers who work with multicultural groups.
  • An intercultural digital platform has been also created as a digital eco-system to enable participants (PE teachers who responded to receive training on intercultural education) to explore practical digital skills both in a synchronous and asynchronous way.
  • A reliable, counterbalanced instrument for assessing intercultural competence of PE teachers was produced.
  • Three didactic scenarios from each partner, tailored made to the needs of pupils were designed and implemented in PE classes and will be also included in the e-guide and will be available in video recorded version.

As soon as the project reach to its’ ending, there is a need for reflection and consolidation of the achieved results. The overall approach, the difficulties experienced in each partner’s points of view, the presentation of success stories or cases of high impact at schools, and the suggestions to support teachers, individuals and stakeholders involved in educational processes, effectively contributed to the development of innovative educational practices.
